Teasing the easing of the Care Act 2014: Transparent legal protection or hidden unmet need?
During the pandemic, the Coronavirus Act 2020 allowed local authorities to temporarily reduce their legal responsibilities under the Care Act 2014. Eight out of 151 local authorities in England took advantage of these eased regulations, even though all faced similar challenges. This raises important questions: Did the minority do so unnecessarily? Or did the vast majority breach their statutory duties?
